The Academic Planning Unit is under the office of the Rector, and is headed by a Director.

FUNCTIONS OF THE UNIT

The Academic Planning Unit performs following functions:
  1. It is answerable to the Rector on academic planning matters.
  2. It liaises with the NBTE on academic matters relating to statistics on admission and graduation
  3. It monitors compliance with NBTE/Polytechnic policy and guidelines on:
    1. establishing College/department/unit
    2. Admission quotas and bench marks
    3. Teachers/students ratio
    4. Science Art Ratio etc.
  4. It is responsible for gathering, collation and analysing relevant statistics and preparing annual report such as:
    1. Total enrolments by school/department, sex and level of courses.
    2. Total of new entrants by school/department, Sex land level of course.
    3. Distribution of all students by school/department, Sex and states of origin.
    4. Distribution of new entrants by college/department, sex and states of origin
    5. Assessment of academic staff by school/department, Nationality and grade
    6. Academic staff by category and sex
    7. Non-academic staff by category and sex
    8. Senior staff by functions and Nationalities
    9. Total, Diploma and certificate awards by classes of degree and subjects
    10. Record number of failures by school/department, sex and levels of courses
  5. Periodic institution research into financing, planning and manpower development. This entails documenting:
    1. The financial allocation to the Polytechnic and its sources.
    2. Polytechnic generated revenue through its various ventures
    3. Staff recruitment profiles (junior, senior administrative/technical and academic)
    4. Staff turn over
    5. The students intake
    6. The effects of all these variables on planning in the Polytechnic
    Liaison with the Bursary department, MIS and the department of Physical Planning and Works and Engineering Services.
  6. Computation of excess workload claims by staff (if any).
  7. Compilations of the list of all academic programs
  8. Computation of the FTE for all academic programs
  9. Any other duties assigned by the Rector
